A cozy and delicious brunch dish that combines cinnamon-spiced French bread with caramelized apple pie filling, topped with a crispy oat and brown sugar mixture.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of cinnamon-spiced French bread, cut into cubes
  • 1 can of apple pie filling
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of oats
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • 1/4 cup of butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar.
  3. Layer half of the bread cubes in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Spread the apple pie filling over the bread layer.
  5. Add the remaining bread cubes on top.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread.
  7. In another bowl, mix together oats, brown sugar, flour, and melted butter. Sprinkle over the top.
  8. Cover and refrigerate overnight or bake immediately for 30-35 minutes until golden and set.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, use sturdy bread and allow the custard to soak overnight. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to three days.
