- 1 loaf of bread, cubed
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, celery, and garlic; sauté until softened.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed bread, sautéed vegetables, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Slowly pour in the chicken broth, mixing until the bread is moist but not soggy.
- Transfer the stuffing to a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
Use day old bread or briefly toast fresh cubes for better absorption. Taste seasoning while mixing due to varying broth strengths. Let stuffing rest for five minutes after baking for better slicing.
