A sweet and crunchy fall treat made with chocolate, caramel, and tart apples.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz milk or dark chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 cup soft baking caramels (melted)
  • 1 medium green apple (chopped or thinly sliced)
  • 1 cup chopped gluten-free pretzels or nuts (pecans, walnuts, or almonds)
  • 1/4 cup melted chocolate for drizzle

Instructions

  1. Soak the apple pieces in 1 cup of water with 2 tablespoons lemon juice for 5-10 minutes to prevent browning.
  2. Melt the chopped chocolate and coconut oil in a double boiler or microwave until smooth.
  3. Line a 9×13 inch pan with parchment paper and spread the melted chocolate into an even layer about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Add crushed pretzels, diced apples, melted caramel, and drizzle with additional melted chocolate on top.
  5. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours until set, or freeze for the last 20 minutes for faster firming.
  6. Break or cut the hardened bark into bite-sized pieces.
  7. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 24 hours for best results.

Notes

Use firm, tart green apples for the best flavor. Ensure to dry apple pieces thoroughly after soaking.
