  • 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 cups cold butter, cubed
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 jar (12 ounces) caramel ice cream topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan to prepare for the bars.
  2. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Cut in the cold butter with a pastry cutter until the mixture is crumbly and resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Press half of this mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the base layer.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven.
  6. Sprinkle the chocolate chips and chopped pecans evenly over the partially baked crust.
  7. Drizzle the caramel topping generously over the chocolate and nut layer, ensuring even coverage.
  8. Mix the remaining 1/4 cup of flour with the leftover crumb mixture, and sprinkle it on top.
  9. Bake for an additional 25–30 minutes, or until the top layer is golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars and serving. Enjoy!
