- Saltine crackers
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- Optional toppings: chopped nuts, crushed candy canes, sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange saltine crackers in a single layer.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together, stirring until bubbly.
- Pour the toffee mixture over the crackers and spread evenly.
- Bake for 5-6 minutes or until toffee is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
- Once the chocolate has melted, spread it evenly over the toffee.
- Add any optional toppings like nuts or crushed candy canes.
- Let it cool completely and break into pieces.
Notes
Use a rolling pin or the bottom of a heavy pan to press the crackers into an even layer. For contrast, finish with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt while the chocolate is warm. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
