Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns brown and smells nutty. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the brown butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar. Mix well.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, watch the butter closely while browning, and let it cool slightly before mixing with egg to avoid cooking it. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze for longer storage.
