Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheese of your choice
- 1 onion, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion. Season with salt and pepper until the meat is fully cooked and onions are translucent.
- In a baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes evenly.
- Distribute the beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Pour the cream of mushroom soup over everything, making sure it’s evenly spread.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese generously on top.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and place it in the oven. Bake for about 60 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
- For the last 10 minutes of baking, remove the foil to achieve a golden-brown finish on the cheese.
- Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving hot.
Notes
Use fresh ingredients for optimal flavor. Covering with foil initially keeps the casserole moist. Consider adding your favorite dry herbs to the beef mixture for extra flavor.
