Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large egg whites (room temperature)
- 1 ½ cups (300g) caster sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 2 cups whipped cream
- Assorted fresh fruits (e.g., strawberries, kiwis, passionfruit) for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a clean, dry bowl, begin beating the egg whites with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Gradually add the caster sugar, one tablespoon at a time, allowing it to dissolve thoroughly before adding more. Continue beating until the mixture is glossy and stiff peaks have formed.
- Gently fold in the cornstarch and vinegar.
- Spoon the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping it into a tree outline with peaks.
- Bake for about 90 minutes, or until the meringue is crisp on the outside and soft inside. Turn off the oven and let the meringue cool inside with the door ajar.
- Once cooled, top the meringue with whipped cream and arrange assorted fresh fruits to decorate the tree.
Notes
Decorate with fruits matching your holiday theme and display on a tiered cake stand for presentation.
