- 1 loaf of bread (challah or brioche is best)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups eggnog
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter (melted)
- 1 cup crushed graham crackers or choice of crumble topping
- Powdered sugar (for serving)
Instructions
- Grease a baking dish and cut the bread into cubes.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, eggnog, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar.
- Place the bread cubes in the dish and pour the eggnog mixture over them.
- Cover with cling wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter with crushed graham crackers for the crumble topping.
- Remove the baking dish from the refrigerator and sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the bread.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and set.
- Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For best results, use stale or day-old bread to absorb the custard more effectively. Customize sweetness and toppings as desired.
