- 1 cup warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- Salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar, allowing it to sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms. Knead until smooth, about 5 minutes.
- Shape the dough into small balls.
- In a pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil. Boil each dough ball for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet.
- Mix the egg and tablespoon of water, and brush the mixture over the pretzel bites.
- Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and extra salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm.
Notes
Use warm water for yeast proofing, and don’t skip the baking soda bath for texture. Store in an airtight container.
