  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring they are well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until fully combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, distributing them evenly throughout the dough.
  6. Using a tablespoon, drop portions of the cookie dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them a few inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are firm but the centers remain soft and slightly underbaked. Don’t overbake!
  8. Allow the cookies to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened but not melted for the best texture. Overmixing can lead to tougher cookies.
