A delightful and creamy Lemon Garlic Pasta enriched with fresh lemon juice, garlic, and topped with parmesan cheese, perfect for a quick family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 13.5 oz package spaghetti
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3/4 cup whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil and parsley for garnish (if desired)
  • Pasta water (add as needed)

Instructions

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water on the stove.
  2. When it reaches a rolling boil, drop the spaghetti into the water and cook according to the package instructions for al dente.
  3. Reserve a half cup of the pasta water before draining the noodles.
  4. While the pot is heating and the pasta is cooking, prepare the sauce.
  5. Chop the garlic and place it in a large skillet over low heat with the olive oil. Sauté for about 10 minutes without browning the garlic.
  6. Add the red pepper flakes and black pepper to the skillet, mixing well.
  7. Add the lemon zest and whipping cream, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
  8. When the pasta is done cooking, turn off the heat from the sauce and stir in the fresh lemon juice.
  9. Transfer the cooked noodles to the sauce, mixing well to coat.
  10. If needed, add reserved pasta water for extra creaminess.
  11. Top with shredded parmesan cheese and mix again.
  12. Garnish with parsley and chopped basil before serving.

Notes

Use high-quality olive oil for better flavor. Adjust the heat with red pepper flakes according to your preference.
