- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1-2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- Extra maple syrup for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, eggs, vanilla, and maple syrup until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon milk, adding more milk to desired consistency.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons maple syrup into the glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over cooled bars and optionally drizzle extra maple syrup.
- Let the glaze set for 10-15 minutes before slicing into squares or rectangles.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for best results. Check for doneness early to avoid drying out. Can store in an airtight container at room temperature for two days, or refrigerate for five days.
