- 12 prepared meatballs of choice
- 1 cup marinara or Simple Tomato Sauce, plus extra for serving
- 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls or pull-apart dinner rolls
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¾ cup ricotta cheese
- ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup finely chopped fresh herbs (basil, parsley, oregano)
- 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
- Kosher salt and ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a small bowl, combine the ricotta, parmesan, chopped herbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
- Warm the meatballs in a saucepan over medium heat with the marinara sauce until heated through.
- Carefully slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally without separating them, keeping the entire sheet intact.
- Spread the herbed ricotta evenly onto the bottom half of the rolls.
- Place one meatball on each roll and spoon a bit of the sauce over each meatball.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the meatballs.
- Place the top half of the rolls back on and press gently to adhere.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are lightly golden.
- Serve warm with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
Choose quality meatballs and fresh herbs for the best flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
