  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 prepared meatballs of choice
  • 1 cup marinara or Simple Tomato Sauce, plus extra for serving
  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls or pull-apart dinner rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¾ cup ricotta cheese
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup finely chopped fresh herbs (basil, parsley, oregano)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
  • Kosher salt and ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine the ricotta, parmesan, chopped herbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  3. Warm the meatballs in a saucepan over medium heat with the marinara sauce until heated through.
  4. Carefully slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally without separating them, keeping the entire sheet intact.
  5. Spread the herbed ricotta evenly onto the bottom half of the rolls.
  6. Place one meatball on each roll and spoon a bit of the sauce over each meatball.
  7. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the meatballs.
  8. Place the top half of the rolls back on and press gently to adhere.
  9. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are lightly golden.
  10. Serve warm with extra marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Choose quality meatballs and fresh herbs for the best flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
