A delicious and quick homemade treat featuring a chewy oat base and rich fudge topping, perfect for satisfying sweet cravings.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup salted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 can (300 mL) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • ½ cup salted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, and baking soda. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. Stir in the oats until evenly distributed.
  6. Press the oat mixture firmly into the prepared baking pan to form an even base.
  7. In a saucepan over low heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and butter. Stir until melted and smooth.
  8. Pour the fudge mixture over the oat base and spread it evenly.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and fudge is set.
  10. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting them into squares.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for easier creaming. Avoid overmixing once you add flour to maintain a tender texture.
