Buttery shortbread bars topped with melted chocolate and crunchy toffee bits, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup toffee bits
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  5. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the crust.
  6. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  7. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips and toffee bits over the crust.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the chocolate is melted.
  9. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars. Serve as a delightful holiday treat!

Notes

Use room temperature butter for the best texture. Store cooled bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
