- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 large egg
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, mix the heavy cream, egg, orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times.
- Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1 inch and cut into desired shapes.
- Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly and enjoy!
Notes
Use cold butter for a flaky texture. Don’t overmix the dough, and feel free to experiment with different shapes.
